As with other comments, they had my name and phone number. Probably from previous privacy breach or perhaps local ad to sell my car. I strung them along for a bit before they got feed up and hung up. Wanting to recover funds from non existent investments. Called me recently from other spoofed phone numbers in Ontario or elsewhere as well with same BS. (robocall / recorded message)

Called saying they were from World Retrieval or something and needed some personal details to get funds sent to me that were linked to my profile. Total scam, could hear bar music in the background. Told him it was a scam and he started trying to convince me otherwise but I hung up. (live person)

He said he is from Canada, he called my name, then I said I am in meeting, then I hung up because suspect is a scam. Try to send message through WhatsApp but didn't have account. (live person)

introduced themselves as olivia from world retrieval. knew my first name, and asked if i had lost money in the financial markets. I'm in nz and the call came from ontario, so immediately suspicious. I asked them to repeat their name and where they are calling from several times as the call quality was bad. When i asked how they got my name and number they hung up. definitely a recovery scam. (live person)
