Veritas-a debt collector who buys up really old debts (greater than 8+ years) and tries to get you to acknowledge the debt (Zombie Debt). They buy the debt at pennies and 'offer you a deal' but once you acknowledge, the time line for the debt starts over again. In Ontario, after 7 years, these debts fall off your credit report and there is no legal action that the company can take. If you contact them, and acknowledge anything, you are on the hook for potential legal proceedings. (robocall / recorded message)
